I'm sure many of the artists would like to make a comment about what happened, most of whom would probably say
We don't know much about computer networking, but no matter what happened we never expected our music to contribute to something like this. It is the very opposite of what we try and do as entertainers. We hope that everyone can be as honest as possible and that the governing bodies would handle themselves within reason and honor as they so describe themselves.
Yeah, probably something like this I'd imagine. But in most cases the label is also the distributor and as part or sole owners of the copywrited work in question can try to suppress any statements, even though first ammendment rights superseed any law and contract that have ever been made after it.
Perhaps they may say something if they new that or perhaps they don't want to make their bosses mad. I personally wouldn't care who I piss off if they are people who try to suppress anyone's constitutional rights. This isn't the United States of 'Warner' (place any lable's name between the quotes for the example). This is the USA and for nearly 200 years majority of people around the world, inside and out, still don't get it.
Anywho, for any statements from the artists themselve you may want to try to contact their mangment or publicists. Good chances many don't even know about the case, from just not hearing about it, to being fed BS to pacify them. Whatever it may be, most of the artists have either private mangment or their own corporations to assist in keeping them out of trouble, so it is a coin toss.
I figure though that it would be best to get info from the horses mouth, so to speak.
To be loved is not always better than being hated.
